carolin has a b.a. in economics and cultures awarded by the university of passau in germany and obtained her msc in environmental science with an emphasis in environmental economics from the uiversity of wageningen in the netherlands with cum laude. she specialized in the measurement and economic valuation of ecosystem services of different ecosystems and the design of financial mechanisms for biodiversity conservation . she did her thesis research in the ecuadorian marine protected area galera san francisco focusing on the economic benefits of local and regional actors and the potential financing mechanisms for biodiversity conservation . carolin has worked on the green economy project of the IUCN south america, specializing in financial mechanisms for conservation. in addition she worked in a consultancy for the office of the CBD on the financial requirements for the sixth replenishment period of gef fund. currentlyshe is a member of staff of mentefactura, cooperating in projects of financial sustainability as well as measurement and economic valuation of ecosystem services.
