vanessa lanas medina is an environmental engineer from the san francisco university of quito and has over 7 years of professional experience in both the public and private sectors in the management and development of projects and processes in various areas, such as: urban environmental management, climate change, citizen participation, protected areas and conservation, biological monitoring, sustainable tourism, among others. she is currently pursuing her graduate studies at pennsylvania state university, where her research focuses on water resources treatment and power generation through renewable sources.
