Target:

Change the paradigm of conventional construction towards sustainable building in Galapagos through the participatory development of local public policies that contribute to the reduction of energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions.

Beneficiaries

Direct:

Construction, hotel, commercial, local government entities, countries/cities/regions in LAC.

Indirect:

MAE, ELECGALAPAGOS, regional governmental entities (CELAC), public and private associations, universities, NGOs, to which the experience is transferred.

Entities Involved

The “Living Lab for Sustainable Building” project, executed in the Galapagos Archipelago, is funded by the European Union’s Euroclima, under its cooperation program for environmental sustainability and climate change in Latin America. Locally, the project is implemented by the French Development Agency of Ecuador. The project beneficiary is the Galapagos Council of Government (CGREG), and the executing agency is Mentefactura.

An EUROCLIMA project

EUROCLIMA is the European Union’s (EU) flagship program on environmental sustainability and climate change with Latin America. Its objective is to reduce the impact of climate change and its effects in Latin America by promoting climate change mitigation and adaptation, resilience and investment.
